What mattress to put in a tourist apartment
Compartir
In a holiday apartment, the mattress welcomes a different guest every few nights and, when it fails, it shows up in the reviews. That is why you shouldn't choose it like you would for your home: it has to suit almost anyone, withstand the rotation, and be easy to maintain between stays.
1. Neutral firmness: medium or medium-firm
You don't know who is going to sleep in the bed. A medium or medium-firm firmness supports most bodies and sleeping positions well without being too hard. The extremes, very soft or very firm, are the ones that generate the most complaints.
2. Foam or pocket springs, depending on the bed
- Single beds and high rotation: a high-density foam mattress is firm, quiet, and light to move when making the bed. In our range, it is the H Compact.
- Double beds: pocket springs isolate each person's movement, something couples notice. It is the H SAC.
If your apartment is high-end, the ProSuite gives the impression of a superior hotel room.
3. Double-sided and 25 cm
A double-sided mattress can be flipped every 2-3 months to spread out the wear, and a height of 25 cm fits standard hospitality protectors and fitted sheets. H Compact and H SAC meet both requirements and feature flame-retardant fabric by composition, with anti-dust mite and bactericidal treatment.
4. Dimensions: think about replacement
The most common dimensions in apartments are 90x190 for singles and 135x190 or 150x190 for doubles, although 160x200 beds are increasingly common. If you manage several apartments, unifying dimensions and models simplifies things a lot: you buy identical sheets and protectors, and you can replace a mattress without looking for a different one.
5. Protector from day one
It is the best investment to extend the life of the mattress: it prevents liquids, sweat, and stains from reaching the interior. Choose one that is waterproof but breathable, does not make noise, and have at least one spare per bed to change it during each cleaning. We explain it in our waterproof protector guide.
6. A base that does not creak
A good mattress on a worn-out base loses half its effect. In apartments with little storage, a storage bed allows you to store the bedding in the room; if you don't need it, a tall upholstered base is simpler. We compare them in storage beds and upholstered bases for hotels.
