In a hotel, the bed base works as hard as the mattress: it supports very different guests, is cleaned around daily, and must last for years without creaking. Choosing between an upholstered base and a storage bed depends above all on one question: do you need to store things under the bed?

When to choose an upholstered base
It is the most common option in hotels. It has no moving parts that can break, provides a high and solid bed, and the cleaning staff can work around it without complications. The Samos upholstered base is our hotel base: 30 cm high, stain-resistant upholstery that can be cleaned with a damp cloth, a multi-perforated board so the mattress can breathe, and a reinforced structure for more than 100 kg per person. If you are looking for a more contemporary look, the Naxos base has black metal legs and is 29 cm high, with the same strength.
When to choose a storage bed
In a tourist apartment, storage space is worth its weight in gold: the storage bed allows you to store bed linen, blankets, and spare pillows in the room itself. For the hospitality industry, we especially like the Saona upholstered storage bed, raised on 12 cm legs so it can be cleaned underneath, with an 18.5 cm storage compartment and easy-care fabric. If you prioritize capacity, the Duna storage bed has a 24 cm storage compartment and front opening with hydraulic pistons.
What to look for before buying
- Strength: ask how much weight it supports and what the internal structure is like.
- Upholstery: fabrics that can be cleaned with a damp cloth and do not absorb stains are best.
- Ventilation: a breathable board extends the life of the mattress.
- Total height: a base around 30 cm high with a 25 cm hotel mattress leaves the bed at a comfortable height for sitting down and making the bed.
- Access: for 180 and 200 cm, it is advisable that the lid is split so it can fit through doors, hallways, and elevators.
- Assembly and warranty: that it is assembled in the room and that the warranty is clear.
