Sharing a bed has five points of friction that occur in almost every couple: one person moves and the other wakes up, you don't fit well, you weigh different amounts, one person gets hot and the other cold, and you don't like the same firmness. Let's go through them one by one, looking at what can be solved with the mattress and what cannot.
What is motion isolation and why does it matter so much?
It is a mattress's ability to absorb one person's movement without transmitting it to the other. If your partner turns over, gets up in the middle of the night, or gets into bed later, with good motion isolation you will barely notice it. Without it, every turn reaches your side like a small wave.
It depends mainly on the mattress core:
- Pocket springs: each spring is inside its own fabric pouch and only compresses where it receives weight. It is the construction that best isolates movement, and also allows air to circulate inside.
- Traditional springs (continuous or Bonnell): the springs are connected to each other, so movement is transmitted across the entire surface. This is exactly what you want to avoid if two people sleep together.
- Memory foam: it dampens bounce, which is why in hybrid mattresses it is used as a comfort layer on top of pocket springs.

The movement test, at home
You don't need a laboratory: one person lies on their side and the other turns over, sits on the edge, and gets up. Repeat it the other way around. If the person who is still feels every movement, that mattress does not have good motion isolation. With the 100-night trial, you can do it on your own bed and not in five minutes in a store.
What mattress size is best for a couple?
The clearest way to compare sizes is to divide the width by two: this way you know how many centimeters each person has. As a reference, a standard single bed measures 90 cm wide.

Two practical rules: the length must exceed the height of the taller person with some margin (your feet should not be right at the edge), and the size must fit in the bedroom, leaving space to walk around the bed. You can find all the sizes explained in our guide to mattress sizes in Spain.
Mattress for couples with different weights: what do we do?
There is one figure that matters here. All Morfeo mattresses are guaranteed up to 95 kg per person, and the Morfeo XL Mattress is designed for people over 100 kg. The limit is per person, not the sum of the two. With that in mind, the decision is as follows:
- You both weigh 95 kg or less: any mattress in the range, even if there is a big difference between you. With pocket springs, each side works on its own, so the lighter person does not "sink" toward the other side.
- You both weigh more than 95 kg: the XL in your bed size.
- Only one of you weighs more than 95 kg: the XL, also for the entire bed. A double mattress is a single piece and must be prepared for the heavier person. The other person does not lose out: the XL also has a firm feel and motion isolation.
If you have a 180 cm bed, there is another option: two 90x200 mattresses on the same base, an XL for the person who weighs more than 95 kg and another model for the person who does not. In exchange, the joint in the middle is noticeable. If you ask us, we adapt each of the two mattresses to the person who will sleep on it and their weight. One person gets hot and the other cold: which mattress should you choose?
Let's be clear: a mattress cannot be at two temperatures at once. What it can do is not accumulate the heat generated by the person who produces more, and the rest can be adjusted with each person's bedding.

What if one person wants a firm mattress and the other softer?
Here we prefer to be honest: a mattress has only one firmness. We do not make mattresses with a different firmness on each half. What you can do:
- Look for a middle ground. If one person wants firm and the other something less so, the Altus has a medium-firm feel: the same core of over 2,000 micro-springs as the Original Hybrid, but one point less firm.
- Go for a firm feel with a welcoming layer. The Original Hybrid is firm in its support, but its memory foam layer relieves pressure on the shoulders and hips. It is usually a good meeting point when one person sleeps on their side and the other on their back.
- Two mattresses on a 180 bed. Two 90x200 mattresses on the same base, each with its own firmness: for example, an Original Hybrid (firm) and a Nature (medium, the most welcoming in the range). This is the only real way to have two firmnesses, with the price of noticing the joint in the middle. If you ask us, we adapt each of the two mattresses to the person who will sleep on it and their weight.

Which mattress should I choose if my partner and I weigh very different amounts?
If you both weigh 95 kg or less, any pocket-sprung mattress in the Morfeo range, because each side works separately. If one of you weighs more than 95 kg, the bed mattress must be the Morfeo XL, because the weight limit is calculated per person. On a 180 bed, you can also put two 90x200 mattresses and, if you ask us, we adapt each one to the person and their weight.
Are there mattresses with a different firmness on each side?
Not at Morfeo: a mattress has only one firmness. If you cannot agree, you can go for a middle ground like the Altus, with a medium-firm feel, or put two 90x200 mattresses with different firmnesses on a 180 bed, bearing in mind that the joint in the middle will be noticeable.
Which mattress is best if one person gets hot and the other gets cold?
A mattress that doesn't retain the heat of the person who generates more of it, and where each person can adjust their bedding.
