Entrevista exclusiva con el Dr. Pablo Ruiz, especialista en sueño

Exclusive interview with Dr. Pablo Ruiz, sleep specialist

Today we have a special episode on the Morfeo podcast: we interview a sleep specialist. Don't miss it!

Interview with sleep specialist Dr. Pablo Ruiz

Dr. Pablo Ruiz has been very kind in accepting our interview to discuss the topic of sleep and its importance in more detail. We have talked about sleep disorders, to be able to learn a little more about this topic that affects many people. We hope to be able to count on the experience of Dr. Pablo Ruiz for new topics and concerns about sleep.

Who is Dr. Pablo Ruiz?

He works at the Dr. Estivill sleep clinic in Barcelona. A medical service in which patients who show any sleep alteration or problem are treated to try to find the cause and the solution to the problem. In this service, specialists, such as Dr. Pablo Ruiz, help to understand the pathologies and alterations derived from lack of sleep. And without further ado, let's get to the interview!

Interview with the sleep specialist on the Sueña con Morfeo podcast

These are the questions we asked him. You can listen to his full answers in the episode above.

  • Dr. Ruiz, welcome to the Sueña con Morfeo podcast. For me, this medical discipline is almost completely unknown, so first I would like him to tell us what a sleep specialist does, what their day-to-day is like.
  • He just mentioned daytime alterations that affect sleep. This seems very interesting to me, how are these types of alterations detected when there is apparently no evident disorder during nighttime sleep?
  • When we talk about sleep, we mention rest, but to what extent can we equate the two terms, or is rest something more complex than sleeping at night?
  • Continuing with the topic of rest, there is a question that has always intrigued me, especially about those people who say that without a good nap they cannot continue the day. Does a nap replace the rest that we cannot always enjoy at night?
  • So we need a long sleep at night to be able to get a good rest and a healthy sleep. I understand then that it is not the same to sleep 8 h straight as to sleep two times 4 h throughout the day.
  • From his experience in the clinic, can we talk about some of the most typical sleep disorders that affect the population?
  • How far does a sleep doctor go to diagnose a pathology and when do they need other medical specialists to be able to make a good diagnosis?
  • Is there awareness among people about having a good night's rest? Should we take it into account more?
  • To end today's episode, I am going to close the interview with the most difficult question of all. Can you give us a piece of advice to sleep better? Just one piece of advice, although I know that maybe it is trying to oversimplify it.

This brings us to the end of the interview with Dr. Pablo Ruiz, sleep specialist at the Dr. Estivill clinic. It has been a pleasure to have you with us and we hope to meet again on future occasions.

We'll hear from you in the next episode! In the meantime, you can listen to our podcasts on:
