In short
If you weigh more than 95 kg, the right mattress for you at Morfeo is the Morfeo XL Mattress. All other models are guaranteed up to 95 kg per person; the XL is designed for people over 100 kg, with a reinforced pocket-sprung structure and high-density foam with high firmness. And put it on a base that can support that weight: the Samos and Naxos bases and all our storage beds support more than 100 kg per person.

How much weight can a mattress support? The 95 kg rule
Many mattress listings do not say up to how many kilos they are designed for. We put it in writing because that is what really determines which model to buy:
- Up to 95 kg per person: any mattress in the Morfeo range. All are guaranteed up to that weight.
- More than 95 kg per person: the Morfeo XL Mattress, designed for people over 100 kg.
Pay attention to two details. The first: the figure is per person, not the sum of the two sleeping in the bed. What deforms a mattress is the weight concentrated in one area (especially the hips), not the total distributed. The second: between 95 and 100 kg there is no gray area. If you are over 95 kg, we send you to the XL, because it is the only one calculated to go above that limit.
The question you have to ask in any store
“Up to how many kilos per person does the warranty of this mattress cover?” If they don't know how to answer you, most likely no one has calculated it. A mattress for overweight people is not defined by being called “firm,” but by being guaranteed for your weight.
What happens to a normal mattress when you weigh more?
A mattress designed for an average weight does not break overnight. It gradually gives out, and usually does so in these three areas:
- The core gives way where there is the most load. The hips and shoulders concentrate the weight. If the core is not sized for it, the impression stops recovering in the morning and the famous “hammock effect” appears.
- The edge sags. It is where you sit every day to put on your shoes or get up. With more weight, it is the first area to sink and the bed becomes narrower than it looks.
- The base flexes and the mattress follows it. An old or thin-slatted bed frame curves under the load, and the mattress, no matter how good it is, adopts that curve.
None of the three things is bad luck or misuse. It is just that the mattress was not designed for that weight. That is why the choice starts with the weight limit and not with firmness.
What does a mattress for overweight people need?
1. A reinforced pocket-sprung core
What supports your weight is the core, not the top layer. Pocket springs work separately, recover their shape and allow air to circulate inside. With a high weight, that recovery is what extends the life of the mattress. If you want to properly understand the difference between cores, you can find it in our guide on viscoelastic versus springs.
2. High firmness, which is not the same as hard
You need a support that does not give way, but with a comfort layer that allows the shoulder and hip to sink in. If the surface is rigid like a board, those two points do not sink just enough and the spine does not stay straight either. We explain it in more detail in what is better, a hard or soft mattress.
3. That the edge holds up
Sit on the side (in the store or at home during the trial) and see how much it sinks. If when you sit down you notice that you slide out, that edge will sag before the rest.
4. That it breathes
With more contact surface, heat accumulates more. Pocket springs allow air to pass through the inside of the mattress, something a solid block of foam does not do. If you also tend to get hot at night, a breathable protector helps not to make it worse.
5. A weight limit in writing
It is the only proof that the manufacturer has done the math. If it does not appear on the product sheet or in the warranty, ask before paying.
The Morfeo XL Mattress: what it is and what it is not
Designed for people over 100 kg. See prices
It is the only mattress in our range designed to go above 95 kg per person. It is not a more expensive version of the rest: it has a different structure. This is what it has, just as described in its product sheet:
- Reinforced structure of independent pocket springs and high-density foam, which distributes the weight evenly and is made not to sink or deform with use.
- High firmness, with pressure relief on shoulders, hips and back.
- Airscape air circulation system and breathable fabric.
- Bed independence: if two people sleep in the bed, the other person's movements are barely noticeable.
And two things it is worth knowing before ordering, so you are not surprised:
- It arrives rolled. We roll it up right after manufacturing it so that transport is more agile. When you take it out of the packaging, it recovers its shape.
- It does not have a removable cover. That is why we recommend putting a protector on it from the first night: the Tencel protector (waterproof and breathable) or, if you get hot, the FreshCool® protector with PCM thermoregulating fabric. Both can be machine washed at 30 °C maximum.
It is manufactured in all the usual sizes in Spain, from 90x190 to 200x200, and you have it along with the rest of the options in the collection of mattresses for people over 100 kg.
What base supports more than 100 kg?
It is half of the purchase and the one most people skip. A reinforced mattress on top of a flexing bed frame ends up copying the curve of the bed frame. Before debuting the mattress, look what is underneath: broken or curved slats or a center that gives way are signs that it is time to change it.
At Morfeo, these are the ones that support more than 100 kg per person:
| Support | What distinguishes it | Height | Price |
|---|---|---|---|
| Samos upholstered base | Reinforced structure, multi-perforated board that ventilates the mattress and stain-resistant upholstery | 30 cm | See prices |
| Naxos upholstered base | Reinforced technical wood interior structure and black metal legs | 29 cm | See prices |
| Rodas storage bed | The deepest storage box in the range (28.5 cm useful) | 35.5 cm | See prices |
| Sofy storage bed | Clean front with built-in handles and 26.5 cm storage box | 34 cm | See prices |
| Niza storage bed | Elevated on legs, with about 12 cm free to clean underneath | 34.5 cm | See prices |
The upholstered storage beds Saona and Duna also fit into this group. If you are unsure between a base and a storage bed, the question is whether you need to store things underneath; you have it solved in bed frame or storage bed: which one to choose.
If two people sleep in the bed and one weighs more: which mattress do we put?
Since the warranty is calculated per person, the calculation is simple:
- Both weigh 95 kg or less: any mattress in the range. For couples we usually recommend the Original Hybrid, due to the bed independence of its more than 2,000 pocket micro-springs.
- Both weigh over 95 kg: the XL in the size of your bed, without doubts.
- Only one weighs over 95 kg: also the XL. In a double bed there is a single mattress, and it has to be prepared for the weight of the one who weighs more. The one who weighs less does not lose out: the XL is also high firmness and, with the pocket springs, each side works on its own, so they do not notice that the other side sinks more.
There is an alternative if you have a 180 cm bed: two 90x200 mattresses on the same base, an XL on the side of the one who weighs over 95 kg and another model from the range on the side of the one who does not. Each one sleeps on the mattress calculated for their weight. In exchange, you will notice the joint between the two mattresses in the center of the bed, which is exactly what a single mattress avoids. If you ask us, we adapt each of the two mattresses to the person who is going to sleep on it and their weight.
What does not work is choosing an “intermediate” mattress thinking about the average of the two weights: the side of the one who weighs more would be above their limit. If you want to see everything that needs to be considered when sleeping as a couple (measurements, heat, firmness), we explain it in the guide of the best mattress for couples.
Table: which mattress according to your weight
| Weight per person | Morfeo Mattress | Why | Support that holds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Up to 95 kg | Any one in the range (recommended: Original Hybrid) | All are guaranteed up to 95 kg per person | Any Morfeo base or storage bed |
| More than 95 kg | Morfeo XL Mattress | Reinforced structure, designed for more than 100 kg | Samos, Naxos or any storage bed |
| Couple: both up to 95 kg | Original Hybrid or another one in the range | Bed independence with pocket springs | Any Morfeo base or storage bed |
| Couple: one or both over 95 kg | Morfeo XL Mattress in the bed size (or two 90x200 in a 180 bed) | The mattress has to cover the one who weighs more | Samos, Naxos or any storage bed |
| More than 95 kg with a standard mattress | Not recommended | It is above the weight for which it is guaranteed | — |
Our recommendation by profile
Original Hybrid Mattress
The most chosen one from Morfeo. More than 2,000 pocket micro-springs with viscoelastic: high firmness with comfort and removable cover washable at 30 °C.
Morfeo XL Mattress
The only one in the range designed for people over 100 kg. Reinforced pocket-sprung structure and high-density foam, high firmness.
Samos base or a storage bed
The Samos (30 cm, multi-perforated board) if you do not need storage; a storage bed like the Rodas if you do. Both support more than 100 kg per person and we assemble them at your home.
If you are going to renew the entire bed, also look at the bedroom packs and the complete collection of storage beds.
How to make it last longer
- Protector from the first day. The XL does not have a removable cover, so the protector is what keeps it clean and dry.
- Rotate it from head to foot every now and then, for example with every change of season, so that the weight does not always fall on the same point.
- Check the base. If one day you notice that the center gives way, the problem is usually under the mattress.
No fine print

Frequently asked questions
What mattress do I need if I weigh more than 100 kg?
At Morfeo, the Morfeo XL Mattress. All other models are guaranteed up to 95 kg per person, and the XL is designed for people over 100 kg, with a reinforced pocket-sprung structure and high-density foam with high firmness.
What mattress is best for a person of 120 kg?
One designed for more than 100 kg per person, with a reinforced pocket-sprung core and high firmness, placed on a base that can support that weight. At Morfeo it is the XL Mattress, on a Samos base, a Naxos, or a storage bed.
Is the weight limit per person or the sum of the two?
Per person. What deforms a mattress is the weight concentrated in one area, not the total of the bed. That is why, if one of the two weighs over 95 kg, the bed mattress has to be the XL, even if the other weighs less.
Is a spring or viscoelastic mattress better if I weigh a lot?
Pocket springs, ideally with a layer of viscoelastic or foam on top. The spring core is what supports and recovers the shape; the top layer distributes the pressure on shoulders and hips. A mattress that is only a block of foam usually gives out sooner with a lot of load.
Is a very firm mattress better for overweight people?
No. You need high firmness in the support, but not a rigid surface: if the shoulder and hip do not sink in a little, the spine will not be straight either. What works is a firm core with a comfort layer that cradles you.
Which bed base supports more than 100 kg?
At Morfeo, the Samos and Naxos upholstered bases and all storage beds (Rodas, Sofy, Niza, Saona, and Duna) support more than 100 kg per person. They have a 3-year warranty and home assembly is included.
Does the XL Mattress have a removable cover?
No. The XL does not have a removable cover and arrives rolled up. That is why we recommend putting a protector on it from the first night, such as the Tencel or FreshCool, which can be machine washed at a maximum of 30 °C.
Can I try the XL Mattress before deciding to keep it?
Yes. Like all our mattresses in the consumer range, it has a 100-night trial with no minimum number of nights and a 10-year warranty. If you are not convinced, we will collect it free of charge.
If you weigh over 95 kg, don't think twice
The XL is the mattress made for your weight. Try it for 100 nights at home and, if you are not convinced, we will collect it free of charge.
