Guide to choosing a base for your mattress
Step 1: What type of support will you choose?
First, we must decide whether we want a bed base or, on the contrary, we prefer a storage bed. The main difference is the storage capacity offered by the storage bed and not the bed base. The storage bed is like having a large extra closet in our homes, and well, you know that extra space never hurts in our homes.
Another big difference to bear in mind is that the upholstered base is usually raised off the floor, so we can clean underneath it or use our robot vacuum cleaner, which is the most convenient thing in the world. The divan bed is attached to the floor, so to clean it we have to move it entirely.
One advantage is that dust does not tend to accumulate under the sofa, as it is right next to the floor. We just need to move it away from the wall to vacuum behind it. Once this point has been decided, we can continue.

Step 2: Budget
As with any purchasing decision, the first thing we must consider is our available budget, how much we can spend on the base. This allows us to rule out any models and options that do not fit our budget, avoiding spending more than necessary. To define a budget, we must be clear about certain aspects that will determine the price of the base, such as the following:
- Assembly and delivery: One vote for convenience is having it delivered to your home and assembled for you. This is undoubtedly a great relief and time saver, especially for those of us who are not handy with assembly.
- Quality and strength of the materials used to manufacture the base.
- Stability, providing comfortable support and sufficient traction to support the mattress during rest.
- Reinforced corners: you may not have thought about it, but you don't know how annoying it is to walk past the bed and bump your shins. If it's ever happened to you, you know what I'm talking about. Well, for us, this point is very important. They should have rounded, reinforced corners to protect our peace of mind and our shins.
- Proper support: we must ensure that the base we choose is the right size for our mattress, preventing it from sticking out or being too small. It should also fit the space we have in the bedroom, so that we have enough room to get out of bed without it being too tight.
- Headboard, it provides greater comfort for our back and neck, prevents damage to the wall such as stains or scratches, and, of course, is an essential decorative element in our bedroom.
Step 3: Design and materials
Step 4: What size do you need?
Choosing the ideal size for your bed is an important decision. If you are thinking about replacing your entire bed, think carefully because larger sizes tend to be much more comfortable. You just need to take one thing into account: the space in your bedroom. There should be enough space to get in and out comfortably without having to dodge anything.
If, on the other hand, you already have the mattress and are only changing the base, just make sure you choose the same size as your mattress and voilà, you'll have your perfect base.
At Morfeo, we offer a wide variety of bed sizes so you can find the ideal base and mattress for you. You can find out about them all in our Morfeo Guide to finding the perfect mattress. Our bases are designed to perfectly support each of our mattress models and sizes.
